Modular Plastic CNC

Examples setup

On this page I will show you with these modular parts 5 possible structures of a CNC machine. But I'm sure if you look at these 5 examples you'll come up with more possibilities.
All the transparent parts are made of wood.

Example 1
This is a CNC machine with a moving portal. There is a Z axis on either side of the Y axis. These raise and lower the X-axis. For more stability, a cross pipe should be attached to the top of the Z axis, like in example 2.

Example 2
This is probably the most unstable example of a CNC machine with the highest number of parts. But I just want to show what is possible with this modular development kit.

Example 3
I don't know because I haven't tested it, but I'm sure this is the most stable CNC version of this 5 examples.

Example 4
This is a CNC machine with a moving portal. There is a Z axis directly on the X axis.

Example 5
This CNC machine is the same like in example 2, but this one has the Z axis directly on the X axis.

*

The print time and weight is for one part with 70% infill and a print speed of 80 mm/s.

**

Support is not mandatory, but can be used. If the part does not print with the correct side on the plate, support may be needed.

***

Some parts can be printed with a lower infill.
